I loved the "Variations on a Frill" pattern on the Knitty.com site so I just had to try it. The fringe portion was a monotonous knit because I was so anxious to get to the lace section. But when I came to end and it was time to drop the stitches it was such a thrill!
Dropping stitches on purpose is an alien concept to me but I made it across the row. Wow! I love the way it looks.
Here is photo of the work so far along with the yarn I am using:
It is Bamboo by South West Trading Company and the color way is drake. The colors suit me very well and I am making this for myself. I'll post more progress photos later.

Kim: This is really lovely! A great use of the Bamboo.
Thanks Susan. It will look and feel lovely when I get it done. I really think that this is a piece that I will get a lot of use out of during the summer months. Cool evenings and air conditioned restaurants have met their match. The lace is a challenge though, at least to me.
